FAQs

Frequently asked questions

The questions groomers ask most often, answered plainly.

Who can be insured?

Professional groomers aged 18 or over with three years' experience or a recognised grooming diploma. That includes salons, mobile groomers, home-based groomers, sole traders and limited companies, trainers, dog walkers with a maximum of five dogs, and home boarders with a maximum of two dogs.

Is treatment risk included?

Yes. Treatment risk is included as standard at £5,000 per dog and £50,000 per claim, covering bathing, drying, clipping, scissoring, nail clipping, ear cleaning and de-matting.

How much public liability cover do I get?

£1,000,000 as standard, with limits up to £10,000,000 available where a landlord or contract requires it.

Do I need employers' liability?

If you employ anyone — including part-time, casual staff and apprentices — employers' liability is generally required by law. It is available as an optional section.

Does my home insurance cover grooming at home?

Almost never. Household policies typically exclude business activity, business equipment and clients visiting for business reasons.

What isn't covered?

Breeds prohibited under the Dangerous Dogs Act, veterinary services, specific dog training advice, vaccinations, breeding, and pre-existing conditions.

Can I pay monthly?

Instalment payment options are available. Ask when you request your quotation.
